Choosing Your Scent

I’m new to OLFA. Where should I start?

If you are unsure which scent to choose, start with a Discovery Set. It lets you experience several OLFA scents, compare how they develop when burned, and discover which direction suits you before choosing a full box.

You can also explore by collection, scent profile, or request a sample of a scent you are curious about with your online order.

What are the OLFA Discovery Sets?

The Terra Discovery and Bloom Discovery sets are designed to let you explore each collection before choosing a full box.

Each set contains 12 incense sticks across 6 scents, with 2 sticks of each scent, packed in color-coded envelopes so you can easily identify, experience and compare them one by one.

Are the Discovery Set sticks the same formula as the full-size incense?

Yes. The incense in the Discovery Sets uses the same formula as the full-size version.

The difference is simply the format: you receive two sticks of each scent instead of a full box of one.

Can I choose the scents in a Discovery Set?

No. The current Discovery Sets are curated as complete introductions to Terra Notes and Bloom Notes, so the scents in each set are fixed.

Can I request a sample of a scent I’m curious about?

Yes. With an online order, you can request one individual incense sample of a scent you are curious about but not ready to purchase.

Simply send your request through Contact Us when placing your order. Samples are subject to availability.

What is the difference between Terra Notes and Bloom Notes?

Terra Notes explores woods, spices, resins and deeper aromatic materials, with scents that tend to feel warmer, earthier and more grounded.

Bloom Notes moves toward florals and softer aromatic compositions, ranging from delicate blooms to richer, more enveloping floral profiles.

Both follow the same OLFA formulation standards. The difference is the scent direction.

What is the Luxury Edition?

The Luxury Edition is OLFA’s attempt to bring the experience of traditional burning oud into a joss stick format.

In the Gulf, oud is traditionally experienced by heating agarwood over charcoal. When developing this collection, we found that many oud incense sticks smelled convincing before lighting, but once burned became heavy and lost much of the depth and character associated with real oud.

Our Luxury Edition combines actual agarwood material with a high-quality agarwood fragrance oil. It is the only OLFA collection in which we use fragrance oil, chosen deliberately because this combination brought us closest to the richness, warmth and complexity of traditionally burned oud.

The result is our closest interpretation of the traditional oud experience, in a ready-to-light format. There is no charcoal to prepare, no waiting for it to become ready, and no need to tend the charcoal between pieces of agarwood.

Each stick carries that balance within the formula itself: light it, let the ember settle, and the experience begins.

What are Ritual Sticks?

Ritual Sticks are OLFA’s wider, slow-burning format, centered around traditional aromatic materials such as ground natural resins, Sage and Sandalwood.

They keep the experience closer to the material itself, while offering it in a ready-to-light stick that requires no separate charcoal or resin burner.

How do I choose an incense scent that suits me?

Start with the types of aromas you already enjoy.

If you are drawn to florals, woods, spices, resins or oud, use those preferences as your starting point. Each scent also has an Aroma Profile that maps its Top, Heart and Base notes, helping you understand its character before choosing.

If you are still unsure, a Discovery Set or individual sample is the easiest way to explore.

What if I don’t normally like incense?

Your experience with OLFA may be different from the incense you already know.

Our formulas are developed around the aromatic materials themselves, with a controlled, lower-smoke burn designed to keep smoke from dominating the scent. The aroma also develops through the burn rather than remaining one heavy, constant note.

If you are unsure, start with a Discovery Set or request a sample before choosing a full box.
